Yikes. This was a struggle. Probably my weakest effort so far. Faces are hard…

I was poking about the Internets last night for some ideas for today’s prompt, Black Cat, and I came across what I thought was a cool style. I decided that I wanted to see if I could create something similar, so I printed it out, put it beside my drawing, and gave it a go. This was a fun drawing to try to replicate.

I wanted to try something a bit different today, and saw an image online of someone who took a rubber duck and drew a figure with the outline the duck made on paper. Running with that, I wondered what I might do with a computer mouse. Ideally, I wanted to create the shadow of a mouse with my mouse, but the best I could get on short notice was a fish.

It was tricky to get the outline to match up again with the shadow from my flashlight. If I did it again, I’d adjust the process a bit be able to get the final image more accurately. Fun times, though! Day 3 in the books!

My Inktober Day 2 prompt was “weightlessness”. I thought I might be able to capture this by drawing an astronaut jumping over a lunar rover. Things went relatively well with the lunar rover, but as soon as I started drawing the astronaut I realized I’d gotten it all wrong.

A 15-minute time limit on this is a tricky amount of time to work with, but I’m enjoying it so far.

I’ve decided to try my hand at Inktober this year. Because drawing isn’t a focus at the moment, I’ll be doing a streamlined, 15-minute time limit version. And rather than using the official 2018 prompt list, I’m using one that I found from last year’s Inktober.

This drawing took me 13 minutes to complete. The inspiration for the image came from a quick Internet image search. Overall, I’m not really happy with it. The face is scrunched, at an odd angle, and sits in the skull weirdly.

I’ll be interested to see if I notice any improvement during the month.
